About Kenneth L. Gentry, Jr.
Ken is the Director of www.NiceneCouncil.com and its sister company Apologetics Group. He received his B.A. in Biblical Studies from Tennessee Temple University (1973, cum laude). After graduating he enrolled at Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. After two years at Grace Seminary (1973-1975) he left dispensationalism, having become convinced of a covenant and Reformed theology. He transferred to Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi (1975-1977). Upon completing studies at Reformed Theological Seminary he was awarded the M.Div. in 1977. After several years of pastoral ministry, he earned a Th.M. (1986) and a Th.D. (1987, magna cum laude) from Whitefield Theological Seminary, both in the field of New Testament.

It is somewhat optimistic to think that in one hundred and fifty pages someone is going to make the book of Revelation easy to understand. But there is no one more qualified to attempt it than Kenneth Gentry.Gentry explains how to interpret Revelation by understanding John's interpretive, explanatory clues to discern the figurative symbols. This is not a book to be interpreted with strict literalness. The book is "signified" or "sign-i-fied" (Rev. 1:1 KJV). On page 31 Gentry says, "John's Revelation is almost universally misinterpreted because the keys to unlocking its mysteries have been overlooked - even though they were left in the front door long ago."
The main body of Revelation is seen by Gentry as the righteous judgment on Israel following the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and their persecution of prophets and saints. God is judicially obligated to punish the nation Israel for their spiritual harlotry and abuse of his faithful people.
There is a significant difference between the first and second edition of Gentry's book. This involves his interpretation of Revelation 20:4. Readers of the first edition will find some totally new material here.

The two passages deal with much of the same material and I think that if one understands Matthew 24 properly he can more easily grasp Revelation.
Some day, God willing, Gentry will finish and publish his 1500 page commentary on Revelation. Until then we are blessed with this condensed teaching of the book.
Update 2-7-18 In 2013 I reviewed three of Gentry’s “Made Easy” eschatology books. It is necessary to say that I have now moved from the partial preterism of Gentry to full preterism. The story is too long to detail but it took about four years of study for me to go from the dispensationalism I grew up in to the preterism that I consider to be Biblical. Partial preterism was a step along the way and I will always remain grateful to Kenneth Gentry for bringing me that far. Preterism appears to be an eschatological reformation and many authors are coming to the forefront. I would recommend John Noe’s The Perfect Ending for the World, Don K. Preston’s Like Father, Like Son, On Clouds of Glory: A Study of the Nature of the Second Coming of Christ (or anything Preston writes) and David Curtis’ (Berean Bible Church) teaching found on the web.

I highly recommend reading this book for those interested in finding better knowledge of what the inspired Scripture was meant to give to those at the time it was written and how it applies to us today. Mr. Kenneth Gentry is commended for doing a lot of research and using that research to draw his conclusions. I am not an expert in Bible study but do a lot of reading in search of its meaning. Mr. Gentry gave me a whole different perspective on the Book of Revelation and I believe he is very close to being right in his conclusions. I hope everyone approaches this book with an open mind and reaches their own conclusions as guided by the Holy Spirit. - Take care, Mel
Great Book! Easy to understand
Informative, I learned some things that I did not
realize about Revelation.
This is a great resource for helping one to better understand the book of Revelation. Well worth the money!
This book changed my mind about popular views of Revelation. Keep in mind this information does not challenge any critical doctrines of the Church, but merely challenges relatively new views of the Book of Revelation.
For years I was struck by how the Bible didn't seem to line up with popular views of Revelation popularized by authors such as Hal Lindsey in the 1970s. But when I read this book everything made complete sense for the first time. Gentry uses a very disciplined and scholarly approach to explaining this subject all based on authority of scripture, rightly dividing the word of truth! No wild speculations about cobra helicopters, or if our president is the anti-Christ. This book will open your eyes.
Questions I always had were
1.) Why did the early Church believe Christ's return was coming in their time?
2.) Why did Jesus say all these things would take place before that generation would pass away Matthew 2434?
3.) Why did John state "these things must SOON happen" in the first verse of Revelation? Sure, a day is as a thousand years to God, but applying that to that passage always seem very overreaching to me.
4.) And why does Revelation appear to be an urgent letter addressed specifically to the Seven Churches in that region?
Using the Bible backed by well documented historical accounts, Gentry completely reveals the meaning of the Book of Revelation. Very impressive.

Great book, easy to read. All of Dr. Gentry's books are excellent and highly recommended.
Kenneth Gentry does a remarkable job of interpreting Revelation and he does so without any "creative" interpretations that rely on the most recent sensational newspaper stories. He unravels Revelation by relating it to the other books written by John, the book of Hebrews, the statements of Jesus and the Old Testament. The "puzzle" (if there even is a puzzle) is so simple that it made me wonder how I missed the plainest meaning of so many well known bible verses. I love it when that happens!
I also recommend his other book, "Postmillennialism Made Easy". Although that book book wasn't as "easy" as the Revelation book, he goes into greater detail linking Matt 23-24 to Revelation and dissecting the errors of the Dispensational point of view.
It's a shame that these books aren't on the top shelf at your local Christian book store!
This is a great book to give to someone who is just being introduced to the fulfillment theory of Revelation and I have read a lot of them. It reads so smoothly and you feel all the mystery of Revelation fall off into a pool of logic and clarity. It is more fun to reread the gospels now with this perspective because I pick up on things I didn't notice before (e.g. In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells Peter, "If I want him to remain alive until I come, what is that to you?")
