In The Right Number, Butch, dreams and works hard to become the national dirt track motorcycle racing champion. Like many teenagers, wants approval from his peers and family, but because of a dishonest act he is plagued constantly with guilt. More tragedy takes place when his best friend dies in his arms while they were both serving in Vietnam.
After the war, Butch continues his dream of becoming the national dirt track champion, and works hard at it. On the day he wins the final race, however, his world of fame and glory comes crashing down when he is accused of murder.

I read this book thinking that it would not be that good. I found it to be just the opposite. As a first novel, this author shows signs of becoming a very entertaining writer. Some of the segue's were a bit disjointed, and at times the plot seemed to develop too slowly, but not to the point of distracting from the story. His characters were believable and the story line was easy to identify with. I especially liked his ending, and the obvious opening for a follow on book. I think this was a very good effort for a first time author. n Read it --- you'll like it.Product details

This book has a great plot and brought my thoughts of growing up in the 50's. and 60's. The era of boys with paper routes and reflections and dreams of seeing our girlfriend without her clothes on and get turned on making out in my friends parents car on double dates. This book talks about the Viet Nam War and how so many of us boys were there . I enlisted in the Navy at 17 and returned as a man. if you have ever had an interest in motorcycles I recommend this read
